While cruising through the local Craigslist ads today I came across a pretty interesting car up for sale, one which happens to be pretty high on my list of “realistic dream cars”. An E39 BMW M5. This car in particular is a black 2001 model, with a black leather interior. For those unfamiliar with the car, it’s mid-sized 4 door sedan, powered by a hand built 4.9 litre V8 that spins up to 7000 RPM, and puts out 400hp. The only transmission option available on the car is a 6 speed manual. The car is said to have competed with Porsche’s and Ferrari’s of the day (the E39 model was first released in 1998). For those interested in the performance numbers, how about zero-to-60 in 4.7 seconds, zero-to-100 in 11.4, the quarter-mile in 13.2 @ 107.4 mph, and a limiter-deleted top speed of 186 mph. All that with 4 doors, more than enough room in the back seats to haul the kids along with you, and a price tag of $25,000.
